Hello V.I.T.s,
I'm a little late, I've been reading the Stimulus Bill. Its over a foot thick
and over 1000 pages. You can go online and read it yourself. Let me
come back to that a little later. President Obama has now been in office
a month. His pace is staggering. The Stimulus bill, The program to help
homeowners, Equal pay for women, and the list goes on and on. If he
keeps this pace up there is no telling what he will accomplish. His
accomplishments should inspire all of us to do more. All of us can do
more and we should. There is so much pain and depression that all of us
can help one another get back on their feet. The one thing we should
all understand is that we need to reinvest in ourselves. By doing that
we will be ready to enjoy the reinvigoration that will transform our
country.
Lets get back to the Stimulus Bill. Its not really a stimulus, its more
of plan to prevent the recession becoming a depression. Most
economists agree to reverse the effects of this recession we would need
to spend 3 trillion dollars. That's right 3 trillion dollars. There is no way
Congress would have approved that expenditure. In reality, we need to
stop and reverse the recession. Then we can evaluate what we will need
as we move forward. Hopefully, this plan will save and possibly start
creating new jobs. Most people will start feeling the effects of the Stimulus
by April. Saving our banking institutions, saving our auto industry will
go a long way to getting us back on the right path. And, with an emphasis
on creating "green jobs and technology" we may be able in time to get rid
of spending 700 million a year on foreign oil.
This a transformation period for all Americans and hopefully we have
a leader who will move us in this new direction. Lets hear from you.
