deko and posh here...hey today is Tuesday, the day we talk about going green! We found a cool story about Christy Porter age 52 from Coachella Valley, California. When the fields get harvested there is so much still left, that just goes to waste. Either it was not big enough or has some deformity to it, so the labor worker is just to leave it rot on the ground. Well, Christy Porter had a idea, she began to organize workers to glean, or collect imperfect or surplus vegetable left behind after the harvest, to feed their own and other hungry families; she also asked homeowners to donate fallen fruit from their yards. Her nonprofit is Hidden Harvest which she started in 2002 and each month she reaps about 80,000 lbs. or produce, distributed locally to 25,000 families. Christy Porter is helping poor people to help others and themselves. Way to go. Remember Hidden Harvest to donate produce to!
