Hold onto your hats people and get ready to GO GREEN!
I want to start off by talking about my favorite thing to recycle: paper
Paper is probably one of the easiest things for teens to recycle. In school, at home, for fun—no matter how you spin it, teens are using a ridiculous amount of paper. According to the Resource Conservation Alliance, the average U. S. office employee uses 27 pounds of paper a year. Twenty seven pounds! That’s the weight of a small child!
Over your years spent on this planet, I’m sure you’ve accumulated your fair share of paper—notes passed during classes, old handouts and homework assignments, to-do lists, tests and quizzes from previous years, paper footballs, doodles from study hall, etc. Every single day teens do homework that they know they’re going to toss out as soon as the summer months roll around (or earlier.)
So instead of wasting paper on games like trashcan basketball, shoot that paper wad into a recycling bin! Most schools make this super easy for students by setting up some sort of paper-saving program. All you have to do is bring in your extra paper, drop it in the small, blue bin with the circulating arrows on it, and they take care of the rest.
If your school doesn’t provide this type of service visit www.recyclingcenters.org/ to find a recycling center in your area.
Save the trees. They’ll thank you later :)
