Amelia's Book Room: The Perks Of Being A Wallflower
The Perks Of Being A Wallflower is one of my favorite books; I read it a year or two ago after it was recommended by a fellow fanfiction writer. I say it about a lot of books, but Stephen Chbosky’s first novel is truly unique.
More personal than a diary; it is a collection of letters from a boy calling himself Charlie, to an unnamed individual. Charlie asks only that they listen, and not try to find out who he is. Thus, he tells them, or rather, us, his story. Charlie is a wallflower, his character so amazing and lovable. He is believably ignorant, and innocent, yet perceptive of all that goes on around him.
This book has it all; humor, sadness, and first love. Charlie narrates his life growing up in a world of sex, drugs, and rock and roll, as he falls for his older friend, Sam, struggles with his family, and a plaguing memory of his Aunt Helen. The ending of this book is a shocking revelation, and you really learn to care for Charlie. It’s definitely one of my all-time favorite books. There’s too much good stuff about it to describe!
I’m happy to say that we now have a Dekoposh book club! I really encourage y’all to join, simply by putting in your email address on the right-hand side of the page. I’m all for anything that gets teens and tweens reading. It’s disappointing, how many people my age don’t read enough. I’m not saying you have to become a reading maniac like me, but reading really benefits our generation. Books broaden our imaginations, vocabulary, and helps future writing skills. It’s good for us! Like the Dekoposh motto, readers are leaders.
Ok, I’m done with my rant, now. Hehe. My point is, join the Dekoposh book club today! We’ll be glad to have you!

One of my favorites. I think its right up there with a new Catcher in the Rye. He might not be Holden, & I'm glad he isn't. My other all time favorite character of YA stuff is Ann M. Martin's Ducky from the California Diaries.
