Amelia's Book Room: The Book of Dragons

The Book of Dragons isn’t one single story—I’ve decided to spice it up a bit! This is a collection of short stories and excerpts that any dragon and fantasy lover would enjoy.

Selected and beautifully illustrated by Michael Hague, The Book of Dragons includes works by Kenneth Grahame, the Brothers Grimm, Andrew Lang, and E. Nesbit. It’s filled with often quirky stories like The Dragon And The Enchanted Filly, The Good Sword, and one of my favorites, The Deliverers of Our Country, in which England is suddenly plagued by all sizes of dragons!

There are also famous dragon scenes from novels; Bilbo Baggins And Smaug, from The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien, and The Adventures of Eustace, from C. S. Lewis’ Voyage Of The Dawn Treader.

If you like dragons and mythical creatures, you would definitely have a fun time reading this book. The illustrations really bring the stories to life. My dad gave this book to me for my eighth birthday; my favorite story back then was The Flower Queen’s Daughter by Andrew Lang.

I hope you all wore green for St. Patrick’s Day today, and that those of you who forgot didn’t get pinched too often! Happy reading!
