Genres of Music-Rock

Hey everyone! Hope all of you are enjoying your Labor day weekend so far! :)

As promised, I'll continue with the different genres of music, and let you know my favorite songs, artists, bands, etc in each genre!!

Last week I covered R&B. This week's genre: ROCK.

Personally, rock music is a great way to boost my energy level. There's something about the tune or music itself that makes me want to get up and dance. Like R&B, there are several radio stations that are dedicated to playing just rock music (and of course, there are others that play almost any genre, or whatever is popular at the time). I think I have mentioned this before, but listening to your local radio is a great way to expand your music taste. Besides, you never know what genre of music you may end up liking next ;)

Some of the popular artists include:

Fall Out Boy (also known as FOB)
Nickelback
Metallica
Slipknot
Guns 'N Roses
Marilyn Manson
Aerosmith
AC/DC
Kings of Leon

**Just a side note: Rock can also be categorized into smaller genres of rock: classic, pop, folk, hard, and soft.

I will admit though, I never thought I'd be a fan of rock music. Actually, I was almost forced into listening to it because one of my friends was an avid rock music listener back when we were in middle school. She's the one got me started and now I'm nearly addicted. A lot of the songs are great and again, it's the tunes that get me addicted everytime. Some of my favorites at the moment:

Use Somebody-Kings of Leon <---Great song!! Check it out if you haven't already. I personally find it somewhat soothing.

Rockstar-Nickelback <---Again, another great song. I must warn you though, the lyrics are a bit on the adult side.

Boulevard of Broken Dreams & Wake me up when September ends-Green Day <---That same friend who I mentioned above is the one who showed me these 2 songs about 4-5 yrs ago. I am still in love with them to this day. Not only is this song a great pick, their album American Idiot, is amazing as well. Again, beware of the language used in some of the songs.

That's what you get, Decode, and Crushcrushcrush-Paramore <---Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe "Decode" is included in the Twilight soundtrack. Anyway, all great songs, all performed by a great band.

And to finish off this blog, have you checked out Selena Gomez & The Scene's single "Falling Down?" Super catchy song, check it out if you haven't yet! Also, I have not yet heard the songs off of Miley Cyrus' newest album, The Time of Our Lives, but everyone tells me it's great! Let me know if you've purchased it already!

Talk to you all next week!! Have a fabulous Labor day weekend! :)
