Hey Everyone!
I start a new semester today so I'll have to keep it short but here are a few pointers:
1) When you're in class, pay attention to what the teacher is saying.
a. Write down important due dates for assignments and tests.
b. When he or she is talking, be sure to write down important facts. You don't have to write it word for word but by the end of class, you should be able to summarize what they were talking about. That will make it much easier when you're studying for the exam.
2) Be prepared.
a. If you don't already have one, get together a binder with folder inserts. Not only will it keep your schoolwork together but it will much organized when it comes to homework.
b. Remember, just because it's for school doesn't mean it has to be boring! Jazz up your binder! Stickers, markers, colored pencils - decorate it to your heart's content! (Unless of course that is against school policy. In that case, see if you can decorate inside the binder :))
3) Have a good attitude.
a. This might be the most important. I can't tell you how many times I've gone into a class already thinking this was going to be a difficult one. Guess what? It was! I've learned that it's our outlook that greatly shapes our outcome. If you know English is not your strong subject, don't be discouraged. Be determined to have a better attitude and keep your mind open to learning. If you think you're going to fail, you will
b. Don't be afraid to ask for help! There are always teachers, counselors or fellow students who would be more than willing to tutor you in whatever subject you need. Most libraries have an after school study program completely free of charge.
In everything you do, it's important to believe in yourself.
Believe that you can ace the test, study for it and try your best.
Remember, even if you don't ace the test - at least you tried
That just means you're one step closer to acing the test next time :)
Have a great week!
Ariel
