Howdy everyone! We have had a crazy week with the first cold of the season (and hopefully the last)! Pretty sure your school is keeping you as busy as we are, with the homework.
Teachers, if you are reading this, more than 2 hours of homework is just not fair… Kids need a chance to be kids! (Run around outside, breathe the fresh air, remember doing that at our age?)
We have gotten off track… This week we are wrapping up our “Celebs That Make a Difference” article with one of our very favorite people. If you are familiar with YouTube, we think you probably have heard of this YouTube celeb. Her name is Piper Reese of Pipers Picks TV.
Piper is the youngest teen and tween entertainment reporter that we know of.
Pipers Picks TV started their show wanting to focus on high energy creativity, and positivity!(which they always deliver) Piper is a young lady with a team working with her (team Piper) to give us great shows, with interesting topics, and interviews with celebrities that kids our age want to know more about.
Piper’s team commented that “There is so much negativity out there, we wanted to make a change. We wanted to make a show that would make people smile, and make people forget about whatever trouble they are dealing with, a few minutes at a time”
You cannot watch one of the episodes and not smile!
Piper keeps herself busy, and this past December she was able to do her first live event. She was the master of ceremonies at a holiday event for Friends of Severely Abused Children in Palm Beach. About 300 people (mostly kids) showed up. She said it was a huge honor to put a smile on their faces for a special night.
No matter how old you are, you can make a difference! This has definitely been proven with our interviews these past few weeks. Kids of all ages are choosing to find something to do that helps someone -It just makes sense.
Team Piper is also working on a plan to educate kids about the dangers of the internet through schools. This is a great idea because the internet is not going anywhere, and we all need to know what we need to do to be safe.
Many adults we know don’t know much about computers and the issues involved. This program they are working on will educate schools administrators, teachers, so that everyone knows what they might run into in cyberspace!
Piper is working on a video for BullyBust right now. Bullybust is a part of The Center for Social and Emotional Education. BB provides support to students and schools to help deal with bullying issues. Unfortunately, this is a topic that too many kids have to deal with. It is something that we have had to deal with- and it stinks. Bullybust teaches teens and tweens about standing up to bullying! They even have a short pledge that you take that helps you know what to do when you see bullying. So go check it out:

Piper at the age of 9 has learned the importance of giving from her family. Piper is making a difference in many different ways. Piper and her Team think it is important to find something to focus on that will make a positive difference, come up with a plan, don’t be afraid to ask for help, be dedicated, and do it! “You’ll be amazed at what one kid can accomplish”! Say’s Team Piper!
Piper loves singing and acting, and making new friends through Pipers Picks TV (That is how we met her…) Piper loves it when people recognize her from the show- so if you happen to run into this amazing girl make sure you say "howdy”!
You will be seeing much more of Ms. Piper- we are predicting. She’s “Making a Difference” and going places!
So that’s a wrap on our Make a Difference Columns for now. Not saying they won’t pop up now and then, but you all get the point now don’t ya? Everyone is capable of making a positive difference. EVERYONE. NO EXCUSES…Stand for something!
Next weeks blog will be different, we are still working on the idea- but it will come at ya in a different way. We hope you will like it.
Have a great week at school, don't let the home work drive you crazy, smile, laugh, and just be you!
Keep it Real!
H and C
