Hello Everyone!
Hope you are having a great week! For all of those who are out for the break (like me), remember to get some much deserved rest! For those who are still in school -- keep holding on! :)
Today we're going to talk about something a bit more serious...
You've all heard of DWI -- driving while under the influence -- but have you heard of DWT... driving while texting?
Texting when you're driving is extremely dangerous and takes your attention away from the road. Even if you've mastered texting while keeping your eyes on the cars around you, your mind is still thinking about the conversation and not your driving.
Although there isn't enough information to prove the long term of effects of texting while driving, it's common sense that anything that takes your eyes (and mind) off the road should be prohibited. That's why in many states texting while driving has been banned.
Maybe you say, "Ariel -- get real. I know texting can be dangerous but I'm really good at texting while I'm driving." That may be true but did you know your reaction time is GREATLY reduced?
The New York Times has put out a game just to show how much your reaction time is lessoned when texting. I've played it a few times and I was shocked!

((IMPORTANT NOTE: Playing this game over and over until you get a high score does not give you a free ride to text while drive. It's merely a test for you to see how much your reflexes go down when you're texting. There are no second chances in real life accidents.))
If the conversation is THAT important, pull over and THEN respond.
Your life ((and the lives of those around you)) > any conversation over the phone.
Be safe and have a happy holiday!
Ariel
postscript: Happy Hanukkah!
We can avoid crashes and save lives with concentration on the road and driving. I stumbled upon mobile application of http://www.drivesafe.ly/ as a solution to mobile management while on the move.
