One Pimple is One Too Many - Choices

Hello hello!

How are you this fine Monday? Well I hope!

Today I want to talk about our choices.

Everyone is faced with choices, whether it be about the small things ((wear my hair up in a ponytail? Down?)) or the big things ((go to 'this' college or take a year off?)).

The important thing to remember is that every one of our choices matter.

Recently, I read Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver. If you haven't already checked it out, please do! In the book, the main character lives out a normal day that turns out to be her last. Throughout the course of the book, she's faced with choices -- and the realization of what happens behind every choice. I won't give away the ending but even that is a direct result of the choices that the main character made.

One thing that really got me is the back cover -- the snippet that they used to describe the book.

It read:

Maybe you can afford to wait. Maybe for you there's a tomorrow. Maybe for you there's one thousand tomorrows, or three thousand, or ten, so much time you can bathe in it, roll around in it, let it slide like coins through your fingers. So much time you can waste it.
But for some of us there's only today. And the truth is, you never really know.

So poignant and so true!

Living every day as a gift is so much of a cliche that many don't even bother following that kind of thinking...
But it's so true...

You never know where your choices might take you --
You have the obvious: go to school, study = get good grades.
But what if you decide differently?
What if something happens at school?
What if you lose an assignment, one that you worked on for over a month?

Then what happens?

Sometimes, the things that happen in life seem to happen whether or not we choose it or not -- but think of this. While it may not have been your choice, someone else's choice affected your life.

It's another reminder that not everything is about you.
The world and everything in it sole purpose isn't to make sure everything goes well in your life...
If anything, it is our job to make good choices -- not only for us, but for the people around us who it will effect.

Think about something in your life -- bad or good -- and the choices that were made behind it.
If you really think about it, nine of ten times whatever it is happened because of a choice that someone made...

And remember:
The good feelings don't always come in the same envelope as the right answer - Robin Jones Gunn

Sometimes you have to make a choice that you know is right, even when it hurts.
Also, you are not alone. You are never alone.
There is always someone ((a parent, a counselor, a pastor, a friend...)) who is willing and ready to listen.
Ask for advice. Talk about the choices you have to make...

Ultimately, the decision is still yours -- but if it helps to talk it out with someone, please do!

Hope you have a great week!
