Hello everyone!
How are you today?
This week I want to talk about a story that caught my eye recently. It's the story of the Crafton family; they sailed around the world for seven years. Can you imagine?
In that time, the three kids learned languages, learned about different cultures and developed a close bond with one another.
You can read the full story here if you are interested in learning more about the Crafton family.
It made me wonder: what would I do if given the opportunity to travel the world?
Think about it --
no school
no twitter//facebook
no tests
no teachers
Just you and the open road ((or sea))!
Sounds great doesn't it?
Don't be discouraged; while you may not be able to shirk off all your responsibilities just yet -- there's always a way to travel!
Talk to your parents and start planning!
Maybe not this year or next year but a few years from now -- however long it takes -- talk about taking a trip somewhere completely new and different. It doesn't have to be out of the country! If you live in Maine, think about taking a trip to Florida. If you live in Florida, think about a trip to Montana. If you live in Montana, think about a trip to California... etc.
Go somewhere new, somewhere different. Be open to learning new things, languages and customs.
If a trip is too out of reach -- which, anything is possible -- go on a trip in your mind!
Pick a destination and rent books from the library; anything and everything you can think of. Find out what dishes they eat, what language they speak, how they dress etc.
Plan your 'trip' a few weeks from now.
When the day arrives,
act as if you have traveled to your destination choice!
Wear the clothes, cook the meals, speak the language...
Anyone is able to take a trip to an exotic land -- even if it's in your imagination :)
Have a great week everyone!
