SpongeBob SquarePants will soak up some social media, 140 characters at a time. Nickelodeon is launching a multi day made-for-Twitter SpongeBob SquarePants event, The Ice Race Cometh: A Twitter-Tale, which will run Tuesday-Friday, July 12-15. Created by the SpongeBob SquarePants series writing team, the storyline will unfold via multiple tweets and images over the course of those days and is also a promotional prequel to Frozen Face Off, a new, primetime SpongeBob TV episode, which will premiere Friday, July 15 at 8p on Nick. As The Ice Race Cometh: A Twitter-Tale plays out, fans will also be able to track the series characters on a Twitter List or custom tab on the SpongeBob Facebook page.
A kid's version of Zodiak Media's classic adventure game show Fort Boyard is headed to Disney XD and ITV's CiTV in the UK, under a new worldwide deal with Zodiak Kids. Commissioned by CiTV and licensed by Disney XD, Zodiak's The Foundation and Adventure Line Productions (ALP) will produce two seasons of 10x30 kid-targeted episodes of Fort Boyard - Ultimate Challenge, which will premiere on CiTV in the UK and air on Disney XD (cable and satellite) around the world (excluding France and the Nordics). ALP created and has been producing Fort Boyard for 22 years ago. The new kid adaptation of the game show will be shot on location in the same 19th Century Napoleonic sea fort off the West Coast of France this summer, the same place the adult versions of the series are produced. Hosted by Geno Segers (Pair of Kings) and Laura Hamilton (Dancing On Ice, Wake Up World, Toonattik), Fort Boyard - Ultimate Challenge will feature mixed teams of US and UK kids taking part in tournament competition to find the hidden treasure. Executive producers on the project are Nigel Pickard and Ged Allen for The Foundation, Pierre Godde For ALP and Jamila Metran for CiTV. The producer is Steve Pinhay. Zodiak Rights controls all worldwide finished program and format rights for Fort Boyard.
