Top Stories

By all accounts, it looks like newly minted Gotham City commissioner Jim Gordon is going to have a rough go of it when "The Dark Knight Rises" roars into town. Thankfully, the actor who plays him — Gary Oldman — is having a blast.

Oldman spoke with Love Film about his work on Christopher Nolan's third and final Batman movie, describing it as a truly special way to end the director's epic run with Gotham's Caped Crusader.

“There was obviously a bit of pressure on Chris to make another one, but he can call the shots now, and I don’t think he’d have made a third for the sake of it," Oldman explained. "He really wanted to complete what’s, I guess, the trilogy. And he’s come up with something very special.”

Beyond his praise for Nolan's work, however, the "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" star is keeping his lips sealed regarding the DC Comics icon's final fate: "I can't tell you anything about it, I'm sworn to secrecy," he exclaimed.

But he did acknowledge what everybody is already expecting — that "The Dark Knight Rises" has "a terrific script" and "a great story," elements that are more than consistent with Nolan's previous takes on the costumed crime-fighter.

Of course, there's still work to be done on the director's final dance with the bat, as "The Dark Knight Rises," which features newcomers Tom Hardy and Anne Hathaway in addition to veterans like Oldman and Christian Bale, finishes shooting in November.

What do you think "The Dark Knight Rises" has in store for Gary Oldman? Let us know in the comments section and on Twitter!
