Letter from the Editor-August 5, 2009

Hello V.I.T.s,

This is my first Letter from the Editor Edition from me (Dina). I am very excited to say hello to all of you and be available to you each and every week. As you know we have been crazy busy over here doing some amazing things for all of you. The website is done, we are just waiting for the programmer to launch it! It has been a long haul but we hope you will love it as much as we do. We have been blogging on it already!

I apologize up front but I am making this a short hello as we are in the middle of a big deadline. I will answer any questions you have for me right here or on twitter. Don't forget you can follow me on twitter at @dinadekoposh. I am really boring right now, but I promise to get better at it.

This week things that have impacted me...
The journalist coming home...thank you President Bill Clinton.
Paula not being on Idol anymore...I will not watch it anymore because it will not be the same.
President Obama's birthday---very exciting--he is so young.
I finished another Emily Giffin book, love her!
Now reading Lauren Conrad's Novel.
Oh, and it's my birthday on Friday. Yes, I am a Leo :)

I will leave you with this, stay focused and pursue your dreams---don't stop dreaming.

Loving it...Dina

Letter from the Editor-July 29, 2009

Hey V.I.T.s,

Summer time has been so busy and fun this year. We hope you are enjoying these hot summer days. We could do without the 100 Degree temps, but other than that...life is good!

We always have exciting things going on over here, and this week is not exception. Our new website is almost ready for it's reveal. We can't wait to share it with you. Also, the dekoposh, Inc. team will no longer be writing this Letter from the Editor, the one and only Dina the founder of dekoposh, Inc. will be taking it over. You have been asking to hear more from her, so we responded. Once, the new website is up the Letter from the Editor edition will be written from Dina. She will share with you personal and professional stories that all of you will enjoy. We can't wait.

Lastly, we would like to ask you to help Deko with the CareTote program. He is busy gathering backpacks and school supplies for needy children in Fresno. The CareTote program is a program CalTrans started here in Fresno and we wanted to help out. Please help us. All you need to do is get some school supplies and a backpack and send it to us. We would love for you to put a personal message inside letting the child know how special they are and how happy you were to be the one that gave them their backpack. Very cool!!! Email deko for an address to send your backpack.

Have fun everyone!

Hello V.I.T.s,

Is everyone enjoying their summer? We are loving it but this week has been very hot over here (over 100 degrees) yuck!

There are so many great things to tell you but we are going to keep them a secret until the new website goes up. We love to surprise you!! haha

We would like to thank all of you for reading all of our wonderful column's each week. We have an amazing group of tween/teen column writers. We are a one of a kind website for tweens/teens and we appreciate any feedback you would like to give us.

Please follow our team column bloggers on twitter because if you are not, you are missing out...

@dekoposh

We have been reading many reports that tweens and teens are not using twitter for many reasons? What are your thoughts about twitter? We love it and we love that our column bloggers are very active on twitter. To us, it is one of the safer social networking sites available because you can make more choices. You don't have to post pictures, you don't have to enter personal things, and you are in control of what you want to put out there. It is an amazing way to get information of what you are interested in. If you think someone following you is weird, just block them. We believe all tweens and teens should be on twitter and so should their parents and teachers. We think twitter is another form of having penpals. What do yo think?

Have fun in the sun everyone!

Letter from the Editor-July 8, 2009

Hello V.I.T.s,

We are back from a great vacation. The entire team, their families, and the dekoposh family all went on a vacation together. Very interesting we must say, lots of personalities. The dekoposh, Inc. kids were great and had a blast---way too much attention they got!

We are trying to catch up right now, we are way behind and we apologize but we should be caught up the end of this week.

Our heart is so hurting with the loss of Michael Jackson. Wow, you don't realize how a performer really gets into your heart. Some of us here are too young to have known Michael Jackson like others here. Dina says she grew up with Michael Jackson, she was a dancer and all his music and Janet Jackson's music was very popular back then. It is all so very sad. To us he was a mystery man, so unique, so talented, and a man with a huge heart. Looking back now, Dina says that Michael Jackson is probably the reason why she loves music, loves dancing, loves reading, and loves to give back. She had never thought of him this way, but as you look back on the way you have been shaped, their are always heroes in your life. Michael Jackson was a huge hero in Dina's life and billions of others.

We will leave you with that! Who is your hero? Why?

Letter from the Editor--June 17, 2009

Hey V.I.T.s,

Hope you are having an amazing week. Our week has had some ups and downs. The good thing is that our website is almost ready. Can't wait.

Things we are working on currently other than the website. We are going to be launching a new segment to dekoposh, Inc. shopping online. We are going to add products that have been invented/made/created by tweens and teens to sell to you. How cool is that? Not only will you be able to buy cool items made by tweens and teens but if you have created a product or want to create a product, you can apply to be a part of this program. Also, we are creating another segment where tweens and teens can make some extra money. If you have things (stuff) that is gently used or maybe you never used it, or you received a gift you don't like and you never returned it...you will now be able to sell it on dekoposh, Inc. All you will need to do is take a great picture of your item, write a description, and tell us what it is worth and how much it weighs. We will place the item on our website with a price. When the item sells, we will send you the invoice and once you mail the product to the customer we will send you a check for 40%. We are also so very excited to add celebrity items to our online store. We will be carrying their line of shirts, totes, jewelry, CD's, and more. You will be able to come to dekoposh, Inc. and buy some of your favorite celebrity items. We are so pumped up about all of this stuff. Lastly, we are working on Jeans Bring Dreams Tween/Teen Concert Series this will be a concert to remember.

Such exciting news!!!

Enjoy the rest of your week.

Lastly, we just want to give some advice to all of you. Please be so very careful on the Internet. Don't go and meet anyone you meet over the Internet without someone with you. Letter from the Editor-May 20, 2009

Hey V.I.T.s

How is everyone doing? We are so great, at least we think we are! So happy for Shawn Johnson's win last night, love to see Teens Rule! Tonight is the American Idol finale...who is watching? Who did you vote for? Well, it is no surprise here, we are huge Adam fans, we were supporting Allison but she sadly left us! We can't wait to see her on tour...we are so into her music! She really rocks :D

Enough about reality TV. One thing we are not happy with is our all time favorite show was not picked up again, Privileged. IDK what they are thinking. There is so much garbage on TV today, and Privileged was so well written. So pooped about this. Anyone else upset? What can we do, I think we are going to write the network; as one of the dekoposh, Inc. kids says they are just "Stupid Hippies." It is so funny when she says that, she is only three years old and when she gets mad she calls you a "Stupid Hippie." She got this from none other than iCarly! We are going to have to talk to that @danwarp!

Lastly, we would like to wish all the graduating high school class of 2009 a great future! This is it, let the journey begin! It is not up to anyone else, it is only up to you---make it happen. If you need any advice or just want to chat, we would love to motivate you to success!

Have a great one, all of you Rock!

Letter from the Editor-March 16, 2009

Hello V.I.T.s,

Wow, what a crazy week we are going to have and had last week! First, Deko and Posh went camping and they will tell you, it was fun, cold, and not so fun! First time for everything is not always the best. The camping trip was for everyone at dekoposh, Inc. to have fun, relax, and not work. We let Posh have her BlackBerry because she would have gone in deep depression without it, but there were no laptops, no office phones, no orders, just relaxing. It was cool but it was so very cold and the first night we had visitors, Raccoons---they ate all our bread and home made brownies. Bummer

More exciting news for all of you, Aria Wallace is going to be on iCarly this Saturday, be sure to watch it. The G-Girlz and The Stunners will be performing at The Baby & Tween Celebration LA event in April. We are so very excited. We will start putting up videos and links to all of the celebrities that we will be working with.

We are excited to add some more new products to our offerings. dekoposh, Inc. is going to be the Tween/Teen must go to and must have site! Check out our new products, more to come...keep checking back! New products include, jewelry, stickr (cool sticker frames for your walls, lockers, and laptops), handbags, iPod cases, Laptop cases, laundry bags, journals, bath and body products, and organizers.

Have a great week everyone and stay posh!

Letter from the Editor-November 17, 2008

Hello V.I.T.s,

We wish all of you a very Posh week!

As you know we will be going the the CNN Heroes event on Saturday in Hollywood. We are very excited to attend. We will take as many pictures as we can but you will be able to watch this event on Thanksgiving Evening at 9:00 pm Eastern Time on CNN.

We also would like to inform you that a very young cousin of the owner's of dekoposh, Inc. is very sick. His name is Austin and he is seven years old and he needs a bone marrow transplant. We would like your help. You must be 18 years or older to be a donor and it is not a complicated procedure at all. In fact just speaking about this and learning more about this we should be educating everyone the need to save a life with a bone marrow transplant. Please log onto National Marrow Donor Program and learn more. We have listed some information here right from the site.

1. Join the Registry

Anyone age 18 - 60 who meets the health guidelines and is committed to helping any patient in need may join. First, you complete a short health questionnaire and sign a form stating you understand what being on our Registry means. Then you give a small blood sample or swab of cheek cells to be tested for your tissue type, and this information is added to the Registry. (To join now, see Join the Registry.)

2. Stay committed and available

Doctors search our Registry to find a donor whose tissue type matches their patient's. If you are chosen, we will contact you. If you agree to proceed, we will schedule more testing. (For more information, see When You’re Contacted as a Possible Match.)
Discussion of the donation process.

3. Attend an information session

We will invite you to to learn about the donation process, risks and side effects. Please feel free to bring a friend or family member to your information session. We will let you know if the doctor has requested a donation of cells from bone marrow or cells from circulating blood (known as a PBSC donation). Then you can decide whether or not to donate. (For more information, see When You’re Asked to Donate for a Patient.)

4. Receive a physical exam

If you agree to donate, you will have a physical exam to discover if donating would pose any special risks to you or the patient.

5. Bone marrow donation

Bone marrow donation is a surgical procedure. While you receive anesthesia, doctors use special, hollow needles to withdraw liquid marrow from the back of your pelvic bones. Many donors receive a transfusion of their own previously donated blood.

5. PBSC Donation

PBSC donation takes place at an apheresis center. To increase the number of blood-forming cells in the bloodstream, you will receive daily injections of a drug called filgrastim for five days before the collection. Your blood is then removed through a sterile needle in one arm and passed through a machine that separates out the blood-forming cells. This process is similar to donating plasma. The remaining blood is returned to you.

6. Side effects and recovery

You can expect to feel some soreness in your lower back for a few days or longer. Most donors are back to their normal routine in a few days. Your marrow is completely replaced within four to six weeks.

6. Side effects and recovery

You may experience headache or bone or muscle aches for several days before collection, a side effect of the filgrastim injections. These effects disappear shortly after collection.

7. Follow-up

We will follow up with you until you are able to resume normal activity. After that, we will call you annually for long-term follow up.
Ways you can help, become a bone marrow donor, spread the word about this site for Bone Marrow Transplants, and/or pray for Austin. He needs our support! If you have any stories or comments to add please leave a comment on this post.
