One Pimple is One Too Many - Graduation
Graduation! We've looked forward to this day for four years.
Now that it's finally here you may be feeling a mixture of nervousness, excitement, anticipation, worry, accomplishment... the list goes on.
Don't worry, millions of young adults (myself included) are making this big step into adulthood right along with you.
My advice to you fellow graduates is this:
Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal. - Hannah Moore
Let's face it. Life's not always going to work out like we planned.
The key is stay focused. Whatever you do next: college, work, internships or backpacking across Europe, remember what you set out to do and follow through. Things may not go your way all the time and that's okay. Determine to have a positive attitude and trust that everything will eventually work out. (And if you are backpacking across Europe, be safe and send postcards!)
These are extreme times. The question is not whether we will be extremists but what kind of extremists we will be. Will we be extremists for hate or for love? - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Everyone in this world is different. We all have different skin tones, accents, religious beliefs, political beliefs etc. The one thing we all have in common is the capacity to love. Your new roommate may not believe in what you do and your new coworker may be on the opposite end of your political beliefs; either way; they still deserve to be treated with respect and love. You may not agree on everything, but you can always find a common ground. Or you can do like my mother always taught me, if you can't say something nice... don't say anything at all.
Sometimes we focus so much on being who we are destined to be that we forget to giggle every now and then. - Author Unknown
I know it may sound like I'm contradicting myself but don't become SO focused on your goals that you forget to enjoy your life today. Every day is a gift, especially since tomorrow is never promised. Make new friends, learn new things and treat every day like an adventure!
My final piece of advice,
Believe you can and you are halfway there. - Theodore Roosevelt
We're destined for greatness and made to shine - we're the class of 2009.
Believe in yourself.
Do like Mr. Roosevelt said, believe you can and press forward!
Our future's so bright, we have to wear shades.
Looking forward to hearing all the great things the Class of 2009 is doing!
Ariel

Wow, this is amazing.
Even though I'm just a junior this year and won't graduate until 2010, I kind of felt this new, enlightened energy while reading it.
Thanks for the advice, I'll definitely keep that in mind around this time next year. =)
