Idina Menzel Returns to "Glee"
Idina Menzel will be back for season three of "Glee," and this time she'll be sticking around for a while.
Deadline broke the news that the Tony-winning actress is in final negotiations to join the show for—get this—10 to 12 episodes. If you're wondering how Rachel Berry's biological mother is going to pull off being in her estranged daughter's life for her final year of high school, then you're in luck, because the entertainment blog has an answer for that too.
Shelby Corcoran is the newest teacher at William McKinley High School.
Idina will be the only major casting addition for the third season of "Glee," which gives Shelby the chance to make some moves on Mr. Schue now that Kristin Chenoweth's April Rhodes won't be back this year. The intention for season three is supposed to be to narrow down the guest stars, which were a point of criticism in season two, and focus more on the show's main characters, Kristin has explained. With Shelby back in town, Lea Michele's Rachel should have plenty of time to deal with her mommy issues.
"I'm really excited that Idina is joining the family again," said "Glee" co-creator Ryan Murphy. "We missed her last year and we're happy that she is coming back."
So maybe Ryan should have held off on that "For Good" cover until the end of season three, considering Idina is back and the Big Three on the show are graduating. Regardless, we're hoping for many more "Wicked" shoutouts and Lea/Idina duets in this upcoming season, especially since Ryan is allegedly working on bringing "Wicked" to the big screen.
