Jersey Shore cast member Vinny Guadagnino took a break from fist pumping to attend a sociology class at Columbia University on behalf of DoSomething.org this week. Vinny discussed the importance of stepping up to bullying and setting a good example for others. He also mentioned cyber-bullying and how important it is to help bystanders who are being bullied.
Unfortunately, Vinny’s speech was not well received by various sources. According to TMZ.com, when asked by a student, “What gives you, as a cast member of 'Jersey Shore,' the right to interrupt this class and then lecture us on setting a good example?" the celebrity gossip site reported that the celeb was “stumped.”
However, Dosomething.org intern Shoshana (pictured above) attended the event and says otherwise.
“Vinny explained that while he does not control how the rest of the cast behaves and what material goes on the show, he does have the power to reach a lot of people because of his career," she reports.
Despite any negative claims, Vinny has helped the Step Up to Bullying campaign reach over 35,000 people, an achievement he proudly mentioned to the class.
