This week’s book, Are We There Yet?, is not really about what you would imagine considering the title. It is the story of two brothers, Danny and Elijah Silver. Danny is seven years older; a businessman, a no-nonsense sort of person. Elijah, however, is just out of high school, a polite, appreciative young college student.
Danny has no friend friends, only coworkers. Elijah has close classmates and his best friend—but not girlfriend, as he often points out—Cal. When their parents trick them into going on vacation in Italy together, neither is exactly overjoyed. But, it’s only nine days to get through. Until they meet a girl. …The same girl. Julia.
This book is about so much more than a vacation; it is about brotherhood, and drifting apart, yet finding each other again. It also incorporates beautiful Italy, describing its landmarks as Danny and Elijah visit places such as Venice, Florence, and Rome. David Levithan once again creates an amazing story that will pull you in, just like Boy Meets Boy, The Realm Of Possibility, and Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist, co-authored with Rachel Cohn.
Hope you enjoy this book! Once again, please join the Dekoposh Book Club, by signing up on the right-hand side of the blog page. We would love to have you. Happy reading!
