Political Drama Column by Thomas-Torture---Water Boarding

There has been a very large debate going on the past several weeks about torture. Torture to make our enemies give up information. One of those forms of torture is called "water boarding". This was a form of torture that came out of the Spanish Inquisition. To say it is inhumane is an understatement. During the last century it was banned by all the major countries including our own. Certain public officials have said that we need this to protect the American People. Former Vice President Dick Cheney is the leading proponent of this type of "enhanced interrogation".
The question is what kind of people would do something this inhumane? Do we as a people condone this type of torture? Do we as Americans consider ourselves better that these people we would torture to get information? And finally, do the other countries of the world consider the Us in a positive or negative way because of this torture?
Let me know how you feel. We would like a good and open discussion of this issue.
