Amelia's Book Room: Wesley The Owl

Although this book is written mostly for adults, I read it and fell in in love with amazing Wesley. Stacey O'Brien tells the story of her 19-year friendship with her adopted barn owl, Wesley. I learned so much about owls, birds, and animals in general when I read this. I've always loved birds, and Wesley The Owl has inspired me to someday become a biologist.

But enough about me; the focus of this review is Wesley! Stacey describes how she was given the owl when he was just a baby, his eyes still closed. By talking kindly to him and treating him with respect and a mother's touch, she created a relationship that sometimes just makes you go "awww." This is a great book for bird and animal lovers! Stacey O'Brien is a biologist, now working with many different animals including seabirds and possums.

As you may have noticed, I didn't write a column last week; I was busy dancing at a summer intensive! We learned lots of cool stuff including lyrical, salsa and acrobatics, as well as ballet taught by Smuin Ballet Master, Amy London. I had a great time, although I was too tired out to write for you guys :) Anyways, don't forget to join the book club and leave me a comment!
