Reese Witherspoon Fights Against Domestic Violence

Reese Witherspoon

Reese Witherspoon is layin’ down the law. This time against domestic violence.

A Global Ambassador of the Avon Foundation for Women, the actress recently spoke at the 2nd World Conference of Women’s Shelters in Washington, D.C.

“As a mother, a daughter, and a sister, I cannot accept the fact that one in three women will be a victim of violence in her lifetime,” said Witherspoon. “I’m proud to be the Honorary Chairman of the Avon Foundation for Women, an organization that has the conscience and courage to tackle the quiet epidemic of violence against women around the world.”

The event saw 1,400 activists, advocates, and leaders from 96 countries come together to change attitudes about this kind of violence.

Another reason we love this southern belle—she’s not shy about educating her son and daughter! Witherspoon says BOTH parents and their kids need to learn about social media and “what constitutes harassment, what is acceptable and what is not.”
