Daily Good Gossip

get the scoop on joe jonas' new show!

By: Laurie Espino

Seventeen: We're beyond excited about your new show, can you tell us more about it?
Joe Jonas: It's called The Next and has me along with Gloria Estefan, Nelly, and John Rich. We are all mentors on the show. I literally knock on someone's door and say, “The Next sent me. I'm going to be pretty much living with you, whether that means your job, or your chores if you’re young. I'm pretty much going to be moving in, helping you out — getting you ready for the biggest audition of your life.”
17: You’re helping a lot of hopefuls finally fulfill their life-long dreams; do any memories of your own story mirror the struggles you andyour brothers had to go through?
JJ: Absolutely, that's the number one thing I pull from — personal experience. I encourage them saying, “Listen, I’ve been dropped from recording labels before. I’ve been through this, this, and this.” I started working with this one girl in Orlando. She was really closed in, even though she had a bubbly personality. She doesn’t really show that when she performs. I encouraged her to be outside of her box.
17: Your brother Kevin's own reality show, Married To A Jonas, coming up, can we expect an appearance from you and Nick?
JJ: Nick and I are definitely in it. It’s a lot of cameras in your face, but I think after a week, you forget they’re there. I’m interested to see what happens. Anytime we see our brother, Kevin, or Danielle, there’s a camera around.
17: You and your brothers are working on a new album, what can we expect from to hear?
JJ: We’ve been working on music every time we’ve been together. We’ve been doing our individual stuff, so anytime we’re in New York or LA we get together and record and write music. It’s been going really well.
17: Who is an artist that you would love to collaborate with?
JJ: I would love to work with Florence and the Machine. She’s fantastic. Also, someone like Adele.
The Next premieres Thursday, August 16 at 9pm/8c on the CW.
