Amelia's Book Room: A Study In Scarlet

There’s something about being a teen and reading a book for adults; it makes us feel much older, mature, and cool, in a way. That’s why this week’s book is the first of the Sherlock Holmes series, A Study In Scarlet.

The famous detective novels are narrated by Dr. Watson, who, after being injured in the war, is sharing a house with the somewhat odd Sherlock Holmes. Investigators Lestrade and Gregson come seeking Holmes’ help with a mysterious case; a man laying dead in an empty house without a mark on him, with a wedding ring and the word ‘rache’ written on the wall. Sound confusing? Piece of cake for Sherlock Holmes!

The second novel in the Sherlock Holmes series by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is The Sign Of Four; he also wrote the adventures of Professor Challenger. Did you know that when he died, his last words were to his wife? He told her, “You are wonderful.” So bittersweet!

Enjoy feeling like an adult when you read this book! Join the Dekoposh Book Club, and happy reading!

Great blog! I know so many teens (my sister included) that don't like reading. I used to love it when I was younger and I still do. This one sounds interesting - gotta love a good mystery!
