One Pimple is One Too Many - Communication

Communication.

One of the greatest things we have in life is hear and be heard. We all communicate in different ways. Because of this, it's very easy to be misunderstood.

Sometimes, no matter how hard you try, people take what you say the wrong way. Or worse, they hear something that you supposedly said or a rumor and believe it's true.

Everyone's encountered a rumor gone wild in their life -- the trouble is figuring out what to do with it!

A good rule of thumb:
When in doubt, don't.

This advice is used mostly for major life decisions but I believe it applies to communication as well. If you're not sure something is true -- be it that your favorite show is being cancelled or relationship drama -- it's better for you to NOT pass it on.

While the internet is a great tool for communication, one tip:

If you wouldn't say it in person, don't say it online
Cyber bullying is what first comes to mind when I hear that phrase but also, posting location specific tweets and facebook statuses can be dangerous as well. I like twitter and facebook as much as the next person, but I'm not usually broadcasting my day and what I'm doing at that moment outloud -- why should twitter or facebook be any different? This is especially harmful if you have a public twitter. Virutally anyone can see your page; please use caution when posting personal information. ((Even if your twitter is private, it's better to keep your location vague or to not post one at all))

Believe me, I love all the great ways we can all communicate today. However, I want us all to be safe in that communication, Your safety is the first priority.

Hope you have a great week!
