One Pimple is One Too Many - Summer Fun

Hello everyone! : )

Hope your summer is going well!
Today I thought I would talk about summer fun.

Amusement Parks//Vacations
This is the most obvious choice; with the start of summer vacation, there's also the opening of your local amusement and water parks. Hours and hours of rollercoasters, games and water fun. This is also the time many families choose to take vacations.
If your family is taking a vacation -- keep an open mind. Many tweens and teens dread the annual 'family vacation' because they would much rather be with their friends at home. But think about this: while your friends are important, your family is more important. Especially when they care enough to take you ((and your siblings)) on a vacation together. Many kids don't have the luxury of having parents who care; please, don't take yours for granted for the sake of your friends. ((Besides, many of your friends are probably going on vacations as well. If they're not, still -- stay at home the entire summer, doing the same old same old OR going away on a vacation, seeing new sights and experiencing new things? I choose the latter.))

Keeping an open mind means not always being on your phone, texting your friends, calling your boyfriend or checking up on the latest celebrity gossip. It means enjoying the time with your family and taking in all the sights around you. It might seem boring at first but trust me, if you keep an open mind to having fun -- you will. Whatever you put into something is what you'll get out of it. If you plan on having a bad time, you will. In the same way, if you plan on having a good time, you will.

Staying at Home
If you are unable to go on vacation, make the most of your time in your hometown. If you're moving off to college in the fall, this is especially right for you.
I talked about getting a summer job in my last post and I think that's a great way to earn some money. However, you should also allow yourself to have fun! There's a time and place for everything and summer is the perfect time to just have fun.

Now, as a general warning: do not drink. Do not drive and drink. Do not take drugs. Do not party hard.
I'm not trying to crush your mellow or take away all your 'fun' but please get this:
1. It is illegal to drink when you're under the age of 21. Even if your parents say this okay -- which personally, I do not understand -- think of you're future. Your body, your life right? Well there won't be much of a body or a life if you continually poison it with substances before you've stopped growing.
2. It's not always about you. When you are under the influence, you are opening yourself up to making very stupid decisions which could end up in trouble with law, pregnancy or death.

Have the kind of fun this summer that won't leave any hurt, any pain or any regrets 10 years down the road.

Hope you have a happy, fun and safe summer!
