Demi Lovato Declares Her Love in "Heart A Break" Video
Demi Lovato may be nursing a broken heart in her "Give Your Heart a Break" video, but that doesn't mean she's going to let her boy get away that easily.
In the clip released Monday (April 2), Demi and her video boyfriend may have hit a relationship stumbling block, but the singer has found the way to let him know she loves him.
"The new music video, I'm basically trying to convince a guy that I didn't break his heart, and we get into a fight and I try to win him over again,"Demi told MTV News recently. "I do something special for him at the end of the song."
The video opens with the couple talking on the phone, and it's clearly about something serious. When Demi starts looking at photos of the twosome in happier times, viewers accompany her on a trip down memory lane with shots of the two cuddling, painting together, sharing flirty glances, dancing and strolling in the sun.
When Demi isn't reminiscing, she's strolling down the street, her bag of photographic evidence that they are perfect for one another hanging on her shoulder. So, what will she do with those photos?
Like a scene out of a good romantic comedy, she makes a collage on the brick wall opposite his apartment window, an endless number of photos that combine to create a portrait of them smiling. Demi, knowing it will work, struts away from the scene of her declaration of love, with an all-knowing smirk on her face.
"Heart a Break" is the second single off what Lovato calls her "upbeat and uplifting" Unbroken album. "I didn't want to come out with this depressing album. I think it's important that I kept a lot of my heart open on the album because I talked about my personal issues," she told MTV News of the 2011 release. "But I also had some fun dance songs on there for people to enjoy."

Daily Good Gossip

Demi Lovato will be on hand for MTV's New Year's Eve festivities to rock the night with a performance. But before the party kicks off, it seems fitting to look back on her big 2011, which wasn't just a banner year for Lovato's career, but also her personal life.
After leaving treatment in January, Lovato opened up about her issues (which included eating disorders and self-mutilation) and was on the mend. She thanked her fans for standing by her while she sought treatment and focused on getting healthy. "I can't tell you how much light you brought into my life in probably the darkest time of my life,"Lovato said shortly after being released. "Without you guys I wouldn't be here today."
The former Disney princess decided to step away from her Hollywood career to focus on her pop career when she left her hit Disney show "Sonny With a Chance." " 'Sonny' was a chapter in my life I will be forever grateful for," she said in April. "Thank you all for watching."
By July, she was fully in pop-star mode, dropping not only the single for"Skyscraper" but also the equally empowering video for the stirring ballad. "I've been pretty honest," Lovato told MTV News about the track. "My whole journey has been about telling my story and hoping that when I share my story, it inspires somebody. So when I decided to come out with a single that was honest and about my journey and about standing strong and tall like a skyscraper, I hope that it inspired people.
"I thought that there was a bigger opportunity for me to come out with a song that would inspire people, rather than it be just another dance song on the radio," she added.
The song was the lead single off Unbroken, which she dropped in September. "I think it's grown-up, but it's not too grown-up," Lovato explained about the album. "It's not tasteless. It's growing up with my fans. It's [like] I'm not a kid anymore, but I'm also not a full-grown woman either. So I'm in that in-between stage, trying to figure out where that is. So I'm figuring it out, just like my fans are."
In addition to causing a stir with her own music, Lovato had everyone going crazy over her cover of Lil Wayne's "How to Love." She also performed aheartfelt rendition of the national anthem at the World Series and recently returned to the Illinois treatment center where she spent time as a guest speaker.
As the year wraps up, Lovato's fans will have a new single to look forward to, the feel-good track "Give Your Heart a Break."

Demi Lovato Slams Disney on Twitter For Eating Disorder Joke

Demi Lovato has been open with her fans about her struggle with food, and now the star is fuming over a joke about eating disorders on the Disney Channel's show Shake It Up.
PHOTOS: Demi through the years
"I find it really funny how a company can lose one of their actress' from the pressures of an EATING DISORDER and yet still make joke about that very disease. #nice," the singer and former star of "Sonny With a Chance," tweeted Friday.
Lovato, 19, who entered rehab for bulimia and bipolar disorder last year, added: "And is it just me or are the actress' [on Disney Channel] getting THINNER AND THINNER.... I miss the days of RAVEN, and LIZZIE MCGUIRE," referencing former Disney actresses Raven Simone and Hilary Duff.

She then sent one final message to her former employer: "Dear Disney Channel, EATING DISORDERS ARE NOT SOMETHING TO JOKE ABOUT."

In addition to reaching more than five million followers, Lovato's rant clearly made it to Disney. Just a few hours later the company's official public relations responded to her with two tweets:
"@ddlovato - we hear you & are pulling both episodes as quickly as possible & reevaluating them"
"@ddlovato - It's NEVER our intention to make light of eating disorders!"
As a result, Disney pulled the Shake It Up episode titled "Party It Up" and an episode of another show called So Random!.

The company's quick actions seemed to satisfy Lovato. She tweeted: "@DisneyChannelPR thank you."

Jingle Ball 2011
Without skipping a beat, Z100's annual Jingle Ball kicked off at exactly 7:30 p.m. Friday night to an arena full of screaming fans. The head-turning lineup featured Demi Lovato, Kelly Clarkson, LMFAO, Pitbull, Foster the People, Mindless Behavior, the Script, David Guetta, Gym Class Heroes and Lady Gaga, who brought some of the year's biggest hits to the Madison Square Garden stage.

ZI00's Elvis Duran and the Morning Crew personally came onstage to introduce the night's most-anticipated performance.
"Years ago, there was a young girl in the audience watching the Z100 Jingle Ball [and] she told her mom she wanted to be a singer," Duran said to the squealing concertgoers. "Three years ago, she opened up the show with her hit Just Dance. It gives me pleasure to say that a lifelong Z100 fan has now become one of the most important artists of our generation."
With the crowd chanting "Gaga," the New York City native opened with Edge of Glory. But in true Lady Gaga fashion, she didn't appear onstage right away. Instead, she emerged from a Christmas tree mid-song, decked out in a studded leather outfit. She then belted her way through "Bad Romance."
"When I was 11, I came to this very concert and told my mom I wanted to be a singer, and guys ... here I am," she said, launching into "Just Dance."
"Some people thought I was just going to be a one-hit wonder," Gaga continued as she moved on to mega-hits "Poker Face," "Telephone" and "Judas."
The pop diva then paid homage to the holidays with a naughty rendition of "White Christmas," gyrating her way across a holiday-themed set, complete with antlers, Christmas trees and lights.
Mother Monster danced through "Born This Way," before closing out the show with her latest, the Fernando Garibay-produced "Marry the Night", for which she channeled the video by changing into a a hospital gown and carting an IV stand onstage. As the song ended, fireworks went off and red confetti shot out all over the jubilant crowd.
Jingle Ball 2011's stellar lineup was more than just Gaga, of course.
During a short break in the show, fans took to their phones and begantweeting furiously in anticipation of another act: Demi Lovato. Finally, after what seemed like years in tween time, Big Time Rush introduced the 19-year-old, who took the stage looking classy in an all-black, gem-studded blazer.
Lovato, joined by her backup dancers, opened with "All Night Long," and followed up with her new single, Give Your Heart a Break, to the delight of screaming Lovatics. Demi turned serious, though, for her comeback ballad "Skyscraper," and the whole room sang along. She closed out her set by ripping off her blazer, all the better to shimmy to and sing the finale, "Unbroken."
"Thank you guys!" she told her adoring fans. "You all have been so amazing!"
Turns out Kelly Clarkson, who took it back with her massive uptempo hit "Since You Been Gone," is also a Lovatic. "I've been waiting for a long time to do a duet with Demi," Kelly said. "Wow, she can sing her butt off!" she added as Demi returned for the classic "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." Needless to say, the two power singers ... killed it. (Lovato has long cited Clarkson as an inspiration.)
Clarkson then switched gears, dipping into her latest album, Stronger, for the sassy "Mr. Know It All," and chart-toppers like "My Life Would Suck Without You."
Gym Class Heroes opened with their staple "Cupid's Chokehold," but the hip-hop/rock band also rolled out numbers from their new album, The Papercut Chronicles. They said goodbye with frontman Travie McCoy rapping his solo hit "Billionaire," as the crowd eagerly sang Bruno Mars' hook.
Reality star Khloe Kardashian was one of the night's guest hosts, and she told MTV News she has "a passion for music." Dressed in LMFAO-approved leopard tights, Kardashian introduced the electro-pop duo, who were short one party-rocker. "SkyBlu couldn't be here with us tonight because he hurt himself wiggling," RedFoo explained.
Although he was without his partner in crime, RedFoo held it down, kicking off with "Sorry for Party Rocking" as he danced with two giant plastic zebras in the background. Foo went on to perform "Shots Shots" and "I'm in Miami" (a New York version, of course). He finished up with explosive -- there were fireworks -- versions of the LMFAO hits "Party Rock Anthem" and "Sexy and I Know It," as fans wiggled in their seats.
Youtube sensations Karmin also performed -- but not onstage. They surprised everyone by rocking right in the crowd.

Demi Lovato To Perform at World Series
Demi Lovato is taking the field during Game 5 of the World Series to support her hometown team, the Texas Rangers. No, she won't be suiting up and taking the mound; the "Skyscraper" songstress will be belting out the national anthem before Monday night's (October 24) game verses the St. Louis Cardinals.

"I'm so excited," Lovato recently told MTV News of singing the "Star-Spangled Banner." "I just nearly died when I found out. I cannot wait."
Lovato said she wouldn't have been able to sing the national anthem at the game if it weren't for her loyal Lovatics. She recently tweeted, "Only my lovatics could land me a spot singing the national anthem at the WORLD SERIES!!!! I couldn't do it without you guys!!!!"
So how did Lovato's fans land her the chance to sing before her hometown crowd? "My fans were actually the ones that sent a petition saying, like, 'Can we get Demi to sing the national anthem?' and sent it to the MLB and the Rangers' Twitter, and they saw it and they called," Lovato said. "So without my fans' support, I wouldn't be singing the national anthem."
Now, after her performance, Lovato will be cheering on her team — but don't ask her to pick a favorite Ranger. She is just hoping for a win.
"I don't have a favorite player," she said. "I support my home team."
Lovato isn't the only star to sing the national anthem at the World Series this year: "American Idol" winner Scotty McCreery and Zooey Deschanel have both lent their vocals before the big game.

It's time to get in the holiday spirit! On Friday (October 21), radio station Z100, with the help of pop star Demi Lovato, announced the lineup for their2011 Jingle Ball concert.

All you Little Monsters better mark your calendars, because Mother Monster herself, Lady Gaga, will be headlining the big event. The holiday concert will take place on Friday, December 9, at New York City's Madison Square Garden.

Lovato, who is also hitting the stage at Jingle Ball, helped announce the lineup at the official kickoff party at the Aéropostale store in Times Square, where she also performed. The singer took the stage in front of a crowd filled with her fans (a.k.a. Lovatics) and sang four songs, including her cover of Lil Wayne's "How to Love" and her hit single off her Unbrokenalbum, "Skyscraper." Lovato sat down with MTV News before the big event and told us just how thrilled she is to be a part of the big show.

"I just know I'm performing at Jingle Ball and that I'm really excited," Lovato said. "I'm going to the Aéropostale store and I'm announcing the Jingle Ball lineup."

Of course, Gaga and Lovato aren't the only acts hitting the stage. Pitbull,LMFAO, super-producer David Guetta, and Lovato's personal favorite, Kelly Clarkson, will also be in attendance.

"I used to go to her concerts and now I'm performing with her," Lovato said of sharing the stage with Clarkson.

But wait, there's more! Gym Class Heroes, rockers Foster the People and pop newbies Hot Chelle Rae will also perform before the New York crowd.

Tickets for Z100's Jingle Ball go on sale November 1.

Demi Lovato is one of those celebrities who managed to fly under the talent radar for a few years, often blown off as being “another one of those Disney stars.” Then, last year, she was all over the media, not for her acting or singing, but for having a bit of a breakdown and entering rehab. A situation like that, with everyone making judgments, is enough to make anyone want to give up. However, Demi handled the situation with such grace and strength, becoming a role model for teens across the globe, and writing for Seventeen to reach out to teens, that her talent is no longer hidden behind her Disney fame.

What was the biggest draw? Are you a fan?

My first reason for purchasing the album was that I wanted to show my support for Demi. I am continually amazed by how she handled having her personal details and problems splashed all over TV and magazines. But she wisely used the experience as an opportunity to get help and become a role model for other teens facing similar issues.

Prior to purchasing the album, the only song I had heard was “Skyscraper,” seeing her performance on the VMA’s. It quickly became my favorite song — I loved how raw and emotional it was and I was hoping for a CD full of similar songs.

How did you buy album?

I pre-ordered the physical copy from Amazon.

What were you expecting? How did it measure up?

As I said, I was hoping for an album of songs similar to “Skyscraper.” I was expecting the majority of the tracks to be about her struggle and really represent the past year of her life.

The album ended up being the opposite of what I was expecting. My first thought while listening was “…what is this and why did I spend my money on it?” but that quickly turned into “Maybe this isn’t so bad,” and finally into me blaring the album and singing loudly while I drove around. Only one song, “For the Love of a Daughter” had the same emotion and honesty of “Skyscraper,” while most of the other songs felt like they were well on their way to being the next dance party hit. However, I think every song on the album is catchy and worth listening to.

I felt like the album showcased Lovato’s true talent and range of abilities with the songs varying from powerful ballads like “Skyscraper” to her R&B and hip hop inspired collaborations with stars like Jason Derülo and Iyaz. I fully expect this album to be the one that further propels Lovato’s career as she earns her place next to Rihanna and Britney on the charts (and I hope that she is able to maintain her dignity and continues to be a role model as it happens.)

Favorite tracks?

“Skyscraper” — This is easily my favorite song on the entire album, and the one that hooked me in the first place. It is definitely Lovato at the top of her talent, and the music video for it is absolutely stunning.

“Give Your Heart a Break” — One of my favorite relationship songs on the album. It’s fun but not over-the-top cheesy, and just a good song over-all.

“You’re My Only Shorty” (ft Iyaz) — At first, I found this song annoying. But soon I found myself singing the lyrics in my head, and now I can’t get it out of my head. It is my favorite collaboration on the album, and I can see this one hitting the Top 20 sometime.

Overall? Live show?

Overall, Unbroken is definitely worth buying. It’s a strong album, and fans of Lovato’s previous albums and new fans alike are definitely going to love it.

I hope she comes somewhere near my town on her tour because I would love to see her live. Her performance on the VMA’s was fantastic, and I know she’ll put on a great show. Plus, it’s guaranteed to be a fun night dancing to songs like “You’re My Only Shorty” and “Who’s That Boy.”

Demi Lovato is definitely the new popstar to watch.

One Pimple is One Too Many - The Academy Awards

Hello all!

How are you this beautiful Monday?
First I want to convey my deepest sympathies to any and all who were affected by the earthquake in Chile. Our hearts and prayers go out to all of you! UNICEF, the American Red Cross and World Vision Disaster Relief are just a few organizations that are donating their time and money to help the people of Chile (and around the world)

((Haiti still needs our help as well! Yele Haiti is my personal favorite but there are many organizations you can give to that is giving Haiti the help it needs!))

On a lighter note: the entertainment world is buzzing with excitement because the Academy Awards are this Sunday! Now you may be asking, Ariel... how exactly do the Academy Awards relate to being an advice columnist? I'll tell you how -- for 82 years we've seen hope and dreams fulfilled.

An Academy Award ((informally called an Oscar)) is the highest level of honor a filmmaker can achieve. While winning is incredible, simply being nominated is an honor and leaves a lasting and permanent effect on his or her life.

Which made me realize, life's a lot like the Academy Awards...

We're all apart of this crazy award season called life.
Some of get top honors time and time again, winning 'Best' in nearly every category that it seems predictable.
Some of us are the underdog, winning despite the odds and what the critics say.
Some of us win, but only in the small//unknown categories or the ones that people don't pay attention to.
And some of us never win at all, constantly being passed over.

But what if we instead of focusing on winning and losing, we're honored that we were even able to participate in the first place?
Life's too short to worry, to complain or to live unhappily.

Everyday, take the opportunity to be grateful -- for the people who love you, for the air that you breathe and for the chance to start fresh.

We are all winners. :)

Have a great week everyone!

Ariel

postscript: This Sunday the Jonas Brothers & Demi Lovato will be performing at the Houston Rodeo! I've been blessed with the chance to go and I'm so excited!
I'll be livetweeting ((@arielsmiles)) from the concert for all you Jonas//Demi fans! :)

One Pimple is One Too Many - Music

Music speaks what cannot be expressed, soothes the mind and gives it rest, heals the heart and makes it whole, flows from heaven to the soul. - Anonymous

Music. One of the few things on earth that can connect people instantly.
What do you think of music?
What are your some of favorite bands/singers/songs?

Donna (@teddy_dunn) says her favorite song is Morning Light by Truman because:
it's so inspiring to me... it talks about how she thought her life was horrible, but now she's on top of the world...

@IsabellaAnna says she doesn't have a favorite song. When asked why she says:
I can't pinpoint a song that's my favorite just because there's so many great songs out there. They mean something different to me at different times.

Jen (@jeng2008 - & one of our column writers) says:
music defines my life. having me choose my favorite song is like asking me to pick my favorite sibling, it can't be done. i could come up with a few good choices, but just one, near impossible.

my favorite song ever would probably be "i want you to want me". i think the first time i heard it was when i first saw "10 things i hate about you"...the original with heath ledger & julia stiles...there's something about the lyrics that are just so raw, and, in my opinion, what ever girl thinks when she has a crush on a guy

I want you to want me
I need you to need me
I'd love you to love me
And I'm begging you to beg me

I want you to want me
I need you to need me
And I'd love you to love me
in John Tucker Must Die, Kate (Brittany Snow) says (paraphrased) "why can't love be like an old pop song? "i want you to want me"...that's it..." or something along those lines, it's been awhile since i've seen the movie...it's just one of those songs that every time you hear it, you grab your hairbrush & belt out the lyrics...or at least i do. :P

favorite song right now? this is the hardest to answer because i like soooo many different songs. anything that inspires you to make a difference or be a better person is what i would say. i think that's why i like the song "Send it On" so much.(My note: Send it On is by the Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato & Selena Gomez) if you really listen to it & take apart the lyrics, there's so much meaning to the song. be a better person, create a better planet...the possibilities are endless...it's like a Pay It Forward program...one act of kindness can become 2 & 2 becomes 4...all the way down the line until the one little thing that you did has created a movement without even trying...

~ ~ ~
I asked Labanya (@lalalabanya - our resident music expert) 1. Who do you think is the most popular band/singer in 2009? 2. What band/singers would you say have been the most influential and have the most staying power? 3. What traits would you say that gives them that staying power? 4. What are some of your favorite bands? 5. What is your favorite song and why?
Here's what she had to say:
Hmm..most popular band/singer. I don't know if I could choose just one. Taylor Swift, Demi Lovato, and Jonas Brothers (of course :P), Coldplay are doing really well right now. I do think that all having staying power, if they play their cards right. Black Eyed Peas is another one. Most influential-again, JB, Miley Cyrus, in some ways, Demi. I think they're influential because the songs they write, a lot of people can relate to and a lot of the lyrics definitely help some get through their day, just by listening to a particular song. Jordin Sparks is someone who I can definitely has staying power. The lyrics in her songs are relatable to teens/tweens.A lot of artists also have nice personalities so, I think people can look at them, not only as an artist, but also as a friend or just someone who can empathize. Favorite bands: JB (:P, music is extremely catchy and I love their lyrics), Honor Society (same reasons), Jordin & Demi (I can definitely relate to their music), Green Day (again, relatable lyrics), Carrie Underwood, Paramore, Shakira. I'm a dancer, so I guess you could say any artists who have catchy music catch my eye lol. Favorite song? Wow, that's difficult. Um. I really love Let it Rain-Jordin Sparks. The message is beautiful...basically, don't be afraid to say what you mean and let it all out <3. Another one The Climb-Miley Cyrus. Again, I love the message. And 1 more, Black Keys. That one definitely helps me get through my toughest days and sometimes, I almost feel like it was written for me.

Personally,
My favorite band is Switchfoot. They're one of the few bands that I will purchase the entire album without having listened to any of the songs before. However, my favorite song is Fix You by Coldplay. (It is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful, touching songs I've ever heard. If you've never heard it before, take a listen) I couldn't possibly name all of the bands that I consider amazing (or the songs) but usually what I'm listening to now can be found on my blog's playlist.

What does music mean to you? What are some of your favorite bands/artists? How about the questions I asked Labanya? What would your have been?

Remember:
The music is all around you, all you have to do is listen. - August Rush

Have a happy Monday,

Ariel

Here is some information on the disease from Sarah!

Dear APFED Readers:

Around 3 a.m. my day begins by waking with diarrhea and vomiting. After a couple of hours rushing to the bathroom sweaty and nauseated, it is time to get ready for school. I suffer multiple symptoms including difficulty swallowing, nausea and vomiting, abdominal and chest pain and many more. Eosinophilic Disease is not curable, at least not yet, and I can only manage the symptoms by getting an amino acid formula through a feeding tube that was surgically placed into my stomach.

I often dream about being able to do the things that normal kids my age do. But the thing I want most of all is to have the opportunity to go through the day not feeling sick. I really do not know what it is like to get a good night's sleep, wake up without feeling nauseous, and get through a day without throwing up and having diarrhea.

Most people don’t understand the struggles of living with an Eosinophilic Disease because the disease is not known by many people. This gala, honoring two special people that have educated themselves about the disease and dedicated themselves to spreading awareness will help all of those who live with an Eosinophilic Disease. Awareness will lead to advances in treating Eosinophilic Disease and maybe, one day my dream will become a reality.

-Sarah

People Watching Column by Posh-Demi Lovato, Shenae Grimes, Dakota Fanning, & Miranda Cosgrove

Posh is People Watching (Celebrity Gossip) Demi Lovato, Shenae Grimes, Dakota Fanning, & Miranda Cosgrove

Demi Lovato - Sonny with a Chance Theme Song

Demi Lovato

90210's ingenue (and party hearty girl) Shenae Grimes, 19, arrived for a meeting at PR firm People's Revolution in L.A. yesterday but realized she didn't have any money for the meter.

Granted, the CW isn't one of the big three networks, but they've got be paying her something.

Stumbled-into-stardom Shenae had to borrow change from one of the paparazzi that were in the process of photographing her parking woes to feed the cold, cruel mechanical parking attendant. She was decked out in a plaid shirt, sleeveless denim jacket, leggings and boots.

It is entirely possible that the scary-svelte Grimes isn't poor. The money simply could have fallen out of her skinny jeans while she was riding high atop a mechanical bull for charity.

The actress participted the annual Babes on the Bull event at L.A.'s Saddle Ranch Chop House on Sunday to benefit the charity P.L.A.Y. (Provide Laughter For Youth).

Miranda Cosgrove is not to good with French!

People Watching Column by Posh-Kids Inaugural for the Obama Girls

Keke Palmer - Kids’ Inaugural: We Are The Future Celebration, 01/19

Demi Lovato the 16-year-old pop star dished after the concert, saying, “Honestly, it was a blur, because it was like, I’m standing in the presence of the first lady Michelle Obama, but then you kind of forgot about it because she’s so normal. And she’s like way down to earth. She gave me a hug, and her daughters were so sweet, and you could tell they are not fazed by anything.”

Meeting the Obama girls was not the only highlight of her night either. Demi expressed, “I met a lot of really cool people, but Usher was really cool because I got to meet him. For my birthday, when I was like 10, I went to his concert, so it was like surreal to be on the same stage with him and hanging out backstage just being like, ‘A few years ago, I was at your concert for my birthday and freaked out when you looked my way.’”
