One Pimple is One Too Many - Love

Helloooo everyone! :)

Today I want to talk about love. Valentine's Day was a week or so ago and it got me to thinking about love in all it's various forms.

What is love?
((Baby don't hurt me. Don't hurt me. No more. LOL I had to. ;) ))

According to the first web definition, Love is:
"a strong positive emotion of regard or affection"

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines it as: A deep, tender, ineffable feeling of affection and solicitude toward a person, such as that arising from kinship, recognition of attractive qualities, or a sense of underlying oneness.

And my favorite definiton:
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Now that we have an idea of how love is defined, let's take a look at the different forms of love.

There's friendship love:

Family love:

And romantic love:

Love is a beautiful thing.
Sometimes, in seems too many focus on romantic love. While romantic love is wonderful and special, let's all remember that friendship and family love is just as important.

Be encouraged my friends! If you were single this past Valentine's Day, remember that there's more to love than just romance. If you are currently dating someone, don't forget to love your family and friends ((and your single friends!))

Love,

Ariel

Happy Valentine's Day!

"Love is but the discovery of ourselves in others, and the delight in the recognition."

Hey everyone! Hope you had a great week! Excited for Valentine's Day? In honor of Valentine's Day, I decided to dedicate this blog post to love songs...of course, they are plenty, but I'd thought I'd share a few with you to share with your special someone if you'd like. :)

I was somewhat braindead when I was trying to think of a list to share with you guys, so I'd like to give a special shoutout and thanks to Donna and Ariel (our very own advice DekoPosh columnist) for helping me out! :)

"And I love her"--The Beatles

Love this song...any song by The Beatles is great!

"Can't help falling in love"--Elvis Presley
"Love Me Tender"--Elvis Presley

Same with Elvis Presley...amazing music. I remember singing "Love Me Tender" and almost becoming obsessed with it back in the 4th grade.

"How did I fall in love with you--Backstreet Boys

Backstreet Boys will always be a favorite of mine...and "How did I fall in love with you" is a great song!

"I Could Fall In Love"--Selena

Selena <3 She was a resident of where I live and was also killed here...we have a museum, a statue, and an auditorium in her memory. Amazing song and amazing performer.

"Sweet Caroline"--Neil Diamond

Love this song too! I remember hearing the Jonas Brothers sing it at the Houston concert I went to on their world tour! So awesome!

"Please Be Mine"--Jonas Brothers

I realize not all of you guys may be Jonas Brothers fans, but this song is absolutely amazing. "Please Be Mine" was the very first song they wrote together and it'll always remain one of my favorites. Such a sweet song and the acousticness (is that a word?) is my favorite. :)

"Then"--Brad Paisley

Love love LOVE this song. I first heard this song on our Bus Radio and fell in love with that. I had never heard Brad Paisley's music until then so it really opened my eyes to country music.

"Hey There Delilah"--Plain White T's

This one's not only one of my favorites, but my sister's as well. Such a cute song and if you haven't checked out the video, check it out! It's the perfect love song. :)

"Morning Light"--Truman

Donna suggested this one :P I haven't heard it yet, but I'm gonna check it out!

Some of the ones Ariel suggested...check them out too! :)

"Two is better than one"--Boys Like Girls
"Only you can love me this way"--Keith Urban
"This never happened before"--Paul McCartney

Hope you guys listen to some of these songs...you never know which ones might end up on your favorites!! Have a great Valentine's Day guys! :)

The Royal Princesses

I knew everything about it: I had seen Cinderella, and I had watched Snow White. I saw Jasmine’s face, I felt Sleeping Beauty’s trance. I knew that one day my Prince would come too – that it was just a matter of time.

And then I woke up.

Love is so much more complicated in real life. There isn’t exactly one guy standing out waving his sword over the doomed dragon shouting, “I’m him - your prince!” Because I don’t know who he is, or where he is - I have to guess. And then I found out that, after I do find him, life isn’t suddenly going to be perfect. We’re going to have to work through the challenges of life, he isn’t going to be perfect, and neither am I. The fairytale I knew – the one I wanted – slipped away so quickly.

However, I've realized over time that my fairytale has not completely ended, it's just been replaced. The new fairytale is where the challenge of finding him will make me realize how valuable he is when I do find him. And the deep dark valleys that we'll have to travel through together - well, they'll just show us exactly how beautiful a sunset is from the mountains tops.

It's not going to be Snow White and Prince Charming, Cinderella and the prince with the glass slipper, or riding on a magic carpet. But it is going to be amazing, despite the trials; my own little fairytale waiting to happen.

Mariposa's Connections: Happy Valentines Day <3

Hey everyone! I hope you all have a great Valentines Day - whether you're just with your friends, or whether you're going out with your date tonight. Today I wanted to keep my message short & sweet and just post a little quote on what love really is:

Love is patient, Love is kind,
It does not envy, it does not boast,
It is not proud, it is not rude,
It is not self-seeking,
It is not easily angered,
It keeps no record of wrongs.

Love does not delight in evil,
but rejoices with the truth.
Love always protects, always trusts,
always hopes, always perseveres.
Love bears all things, believes all things,
hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never ends.

(1 Corinthians 13:4-8),

Mariposa's Connections: Quotes

When I was little, my little sister and I used to make Valentines for everyone: our family, our friends, our neighbors, and even the mailman. And seeing how Valentines Day is only two weeks away, here are some quotes by famous people to help get you in the mood:

Love doesn't make the world go round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile. - Franklin P. Jones

At the touch of love everyone becomes a poet. - Plato

Love is a canvas furnished by Nature and embroidered by imagination. - Voltaire

Love is an irresistible desire to be irresistibly desired. - Robert Frost

Love is the triumph of imagination of intelligence. - Henry Louis Mencken

Love is a friendship set to music. - E. Joseph Cossman

So what do you think Love is?

Mariposa's Connections: How Do You Know?

So how do you know if you love someone? Is it the butterflies in the stomach, or the smile he or she always brings to life on your face? Or is that just an emotion - a feeling that flies by quickly - rather than the real thing? It's so hard to tell - ask an adult, and he'll probably say, "You just know." But how do you just know?

I think that we know we love someone, not when we have him (or her) unconditionally, but when there's a chance of losing him. When we get that empty dull feeling inside as we realize we can't stand the future without that person, or when we realize that we couldn't bear seeing that person hurt, especially by ourselves. When we'd sacrifice for them, or give of ourselves just to make them happy. That's how we know - when we realize that they might be leaving, and taking our hearts with them.
